Noise management for local residents is the responsibility of several companies/institutions, and is part of 3 Sustainable Development Goals:
- SDG 3: Good health & well-being;
- SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities;
- SDG 17: Partnerships to achieve the goals.
To this end, many initiatives, both individual and collective, have been taken and are being implemented, such as
- The provision by SOWAER of its DIAPASON tool;
- The replacement of the airline fleet by aircraft whose fuel consumption, noise emissions and atmospheric pollutants are greatly reduced (Airbus A321 Neo, Airbus A330 Neo, Boeing 737 Max);
- The revision of approach and take-off procedures in collaboration with air traffic control;
- And many more, details of which can be found in our sustainable development report
Learn more about Diapason, the tool that analyses aviation activities & noises
Working with Brussels South Charleroi Airport, SOWAER (Société Wallonne des aéroports, Wallonia’s airport association) is committed to the sustainable development of airports in order to create pleasant surroundings for the general public.
In order to consolidate its commitment to providing information for the residents of neighbouring municipalities, SOWAER has launched a new website - www.sowaer.be, which includes a tool that provides information and analyses of aviation activities and noise: DIAPASON.
DIAPASON shows aeroplane routes and their locations, as well as identifying the sound generated by each flight taking off from or landing at Charleroi.
